One handed

Sorry I haven’t updated in a couple of days. I find it really hard to type with one hand. Why am I typing with just one hand you ask? Because I had wrist surgery on Tuesday. I’ve had a ganglion cyst on my left wrist for about 7 years. It had been drained twice but kept coming back. It wasn’t very big but it was very painful. So finally my Orthopedist agreed to take it out. Yay, right? Well, I was not prepared for the aftermath. I was told it would be an outpatient procedure that would take about 30 minutes. This was only partially true – I had to be there 1.5 hours early. The procedure took almost an hour because the cyst was wrapped around my tendons and my wrist is so small. My doctor also said there was a lot of wear and tear  – I guess I shouldn’t have done all that cheerleading, swimming and waiting tables. It took me awhile to wake up and I was in recovery for about 2.5 hours. I knew I’d have a splint, but I did not expect a partial cast – that I have to wear for 10 days until I go back for my follow-up appointment. To make matters worse, I’m a reader in my best guy-friend’s wedding this weekend. So much for looking good.

my "splint"

Moral of the story – ask questions and make sure you know exactly what is going on before you plan surgery.
